Tuesday, March 13th: IRIS Event With
Megan Gash on Microfinance! |

- Content:
Megan Gash is a program specialist at the IRIS Center at the
University of Maryland, Department of Economics. She will
speak on her career in the exciting field of microfinance,
which involves providing financial services for poor people
in developing countries. It includes loans, savings, insurance,
transfer services and other financial products targeted at
low-income clients.
She has interned at FINCA International and participated in
microfinance poverty assessment studies in Guatemala and Tanzania.
She will speak about the past and future of the field, her
own past and current work, and recommend some resources to
learn more about the field.

Global Opportunities is a selective and reciprocal academic
program for language and business students interested in the
world of international business. The Program helps students
to gain skills outside their majors and enhance their opportunities
in the global business arena. Some of the exciting events
planned:

study abroad trip to Beijing University this summer
-An
exciting summer session class which will include visiting
international institutions in Washington, D.C.
