Tuesday, December 6th: IEFS Executive Board Elections!
  • Time and location: 5:00-6:30PM, VMH1206
  • Content: Each candidate will briefly discuss their qualifications for the position they are running for, and then you get to vote.

    If you are interested in running but couldn't attend the meeting last Tuesday, please email Nanda ASAP (nsrikant@umd.edu) with your name and the position you would like to run for. The following positions are open:

Tuesday, September 13th: IEFS General Body Meeting

  • Content: Meet the new executive board and members, learn more about the positions, sign up to join the marketing committee, learn about upcoming events, and enjoy FREE FOOD!!

Wednesday, September 14th: JP Morgan Chase Signature Event
  • Time and location: 5:30 - 7:00 PM, Frank Auditorium
  • Content: Join us for our 1st Signature Event of the year. All majors are welcome! JPMorganChase is a Fortune 500 company that provides services to over 90% of the other Fortune 500 companies, with international business operations in a wide range of financial areas. There will be recruiters in attendance and you are encourage to bring your resume. They are recruiting for their Management Services and Card Services Programs. In addition, JP Morgan will have representatives from the Private Bank, Technology Program and Investment Bank. Take advantage of this unique opportunity before on-campus interviewing officially begins. Free food will follow the presentations and networking!

Wednesday, September 28th: Deloitte Consulting and Beers & Cutler Career Workshop Co-Sponsored with BITS
  • Time and location: 5:30 - 6:30 PM, VMH1206
  • Content: Need help fine-tuning your resume, cover letter, interviewing, and networking skills? Do you want help finding a part-time job, internship, or full time job? Then come to the Deloitte Consulting and Beers & Cutler Career Workshop! Group sessions with UM alumni currently working at Beers and Cutler (one of the top accounting firms in the area) and Deloitte Consulting (one of the top consulting firms in the nation). These sessions will cover:

    * Interview Tips
    * Networking Tips

    The Office of Career Management (OCM) will make a brief presentation on career preparation and how to emphasize international skills in interviews.

Tuesday, November 8th: The IEFS Public Policy Forum
  • Africa Development Workshop
  • Time and location: 5-6:30 PM, VMH1206
  • Content: A roundtable discussion with a panel of international development experts will examine the challenges facing Africa today, and the prospects for foreign assistance from the developed world.
  • Cosponsored by the IRIS Center at the University of Maryland.
  • Participants will include representatives from:
    • Department of Economics, University of Maryland
    • NICHD, the National Institute of Child Health & Human Development
    • ONE, the campaign to make poverty history
  • A light dinner will be served.

Thursday, November 17th: Field Trip
The WORLD BANK, U.S. DEPT. OF TREASURY, and The FEDERAL RESERVE
  • Time and location: 8:30am - 5:30 PM, Departing from the College Park Metro Station
  • Content: This is an exciting opportunity to see these organizations up close and talk to professionals who work at each one.
  • Itinerary:
    • 8:30am: Meet at College Park Metro Station
    • 9:30am - 11:30am: World Bank
    • 11:30am - 12:30pm: Lunch at the World Bank
    • 1:00pm - 3:00pm: Department of the Treasury
    • 3:30pm - 5:00pm: Federal Reserve Board of Governors
  • Please note that preference will be given to paid IEFS members. This field trip is an excused absence -- we will provide a note from our faculty sponsor. We will also cover metro fare for club members.
  • If you are unable to attend the entire trip, you may join us for whichever part(s) you can make it to.

Tuesday, November 29th: Informational Meeting for Upcoming IEFS Elections
  • Time and location: 5:00-6:30PM, VMH1206
  • Content: At this meeting you will get a chance to ask questions of current executive officers, and we'll get a chance to talk a little bit about what it means to serve on the IEFS Board.

    Just as a reminder, ALL of the positions on the Board will be open by the end of the semester. We encourage everyone who's interested to run for a position. THe only qualification necessary is that you must be a member of IEFS. If you would like to run but have not filled out a membership form, bring a form and your fee to the Informational Meeting and you will be eligible.

    So come by, have some pizza, and feel free to ask any questions you like about elections!

    If you cannot attend the meeting but would still like to run for a position, please send Nanda an email at nsrikant@umd.edu, with your name and the position you would like to run for. If you have any questions, please feel free to send them along to Nanda or to any of the other executive officers.
