Since 1946 the Middle East Institute has been an important conduit of information between Middle Eastern nations and American policymakers, organizations and the public.

Internships are available throughout the year to undergraduates and recent graduates. Positions are available on a full or part-time basis with a minimum of 20 hours a week. Although there is no financial compensation for interns, MEI does offer each intern one free language class, a one-year membership to MEI, and reimbursement for local travel expenses. The dates of internships correspond to the fall, spring, and, summer academic semesters. The deadlines for applications are November 15 for Spring, March 15 for Summer, and July 15 for Fall. Founded in 1953, The Africa-America Institute is a multi-racial, multi-ethnic, non-profit organization, with offices in New York and Washington, and a presence in over 50 African countries. For over five decades AAI has worked to engage Africans and Americans through training programs and dialogue. AAI's programs aim to encourage greater understanding of Africa among a wide spectrum of Americans and to bring American and African policy makers together to focus on issues of mutual concern.

The UN Foundation was created in 1998 with entrepreneur and philanthropist Ted Turner's historic $1 billion gift to support UN causes and activities. The UN Foundation builds and implements public-private partnerships to address the world's most pressing problems, and also works to broaden support for the UN through advocacy and public outreach. The UN Foundation is a public charity.

The UN Foundation hosts a semester-long internship program during the Fall, Spring, and Summer school sessions. Students are exposed to the work of the UN, within a framework that encourages them to consider careers in the UN or related causes.
